Andrew has been with Saint & Co since 1989 and is based in the Wigton office. He helps advise clients in the Wigton area on how to minimise their tax liabilities and offers help on how to improve their profitability and efficiency.
He believes that businesses should be aware of their financial position at all times. “Having access to up to date accounting information is crucial in decision-making and managing a successful business.”
Andrew says: “I’ve known the majority of my clients for over 20 years and would like to think they see me as somebody they can trust to always have their best interests at heart. I get a real sense of satisfaction when clients acknowledge that we’ve played a part in their success.”
Although specialising in the farming and agricultural sector, Andrew also advises a wide range of personal and corporate clients.
Most of Andrew’s colleagues and clients know of his passion for cycling but many will be unaware that he is also an accomplished pianist.

Ian has been with the firm since 1991 years and is based in the Ambleside office. He works with a wide range of clients from small startups through to well-established businesses with a significant workforce.
He believes in listening to the client so he can advise on the best possible course of action that will give the client exactly what they need.
Ian says: “We’re here to help and advise our clients, it’s not all about number crunching. We encourage our clients, and indeed any business owner to call us before making any major restructuring or financial decisions. We can often help save you time and money.”
Ian describes himself as a people person. He welcomes the latest innovations that help make accountancy services more efficient, but firmly believes that technology will never replace the value of strong client relationships.

Stuart has been part of Saint & Co since 1990 and is a well-known personality in the local business community. He values the time he spends meeting clients and advising them on their business finances.
His work focuses on tax advice, and audit work. He’s also a specialist on charities and cloud accounting.
Stuart says: “I get to meet a large variety of clients from large audit clients through to sole traders and start-ups. I like to spend time getting to know them and their businesses very well. My job is interesting every day.”
Stuart is a keen cricket player and passionate music lover. He has a hankering to one day learn the piano or guitar so he can play music instead of just listening to it. He’s a family man with two young children.

Andrew joined Saint & Co in 1992. He’s a general accountancy practitioner but focuses on providing business assistance and tax guidance to the owners and directors of Limited companies.
Through his work, he helps his clients develop ideas to enhance their business performance and to help them plan, so they don’t need to pay any more tax than necessary.
Andrew says: “I think that one of the main reasons clients choose Saint & Co is our ‘one partner point of contact’ approach. I take pride in the fact that I am accessible to all my clients and always know exactly what work has been done for them at any given time.”
Andrew is a self-confessed football fanatic, and he also coaches a local under 7s football team.

Ian has been with the firm since 1999. As well as being a Chartered Accountant, he is also a Registered Auditor and was the first in the firm to gain a specialist qualification in Charity Accounting.
As well as general accounting and taxation advice, Ian spends time assisting clients in their business planning. He works with startups through to million-pound expansion projects including advice on fundraising, management accounting and forecasting.
Ian says: “The best part of my job is getting to know our clients and having the opportunity to get under the skin of their businesses. I meet so many interesting people; every day is different.”
Outside of work Ian spends time standing up to his waist in freezing cold rivers with the hope of catching salmon. Ian is also a keen cyclist.

Pauline is a tax specialist based in our Carlisle office. She’s been with the firm since 1999 and helps clients deal with complex tax planning.
She works with businesses of all sizes and individuals to find efficient ways to structure transactions to ensure they don’t pay any more tax than necessary.
Pauline says: “Before you make any major decisions for your business or in your personal life, pick up the phone and speak to us. We can often save a lot of money on tax bills just by considering different options to get the right result.”
Pauline loves exotic travel, live music and Salsa dancing. Recent trips have included Cuba and the Gambia. Her love of music extends to the need to have music ‘anywhere and everywhere’, so she never goes anywhere without the wi-fi speaker for her iPhone.

Lindsay joined Saint & Co in 1998 and has been a partner since 2008. She’s based in the Carlisle office and works with a wide range of clients from sole traders through to companies with a multi-million pound turnover.
As well as providing general accountancy services and tax advice Lindsay and has helped many companies with sales and acquisitions. Lindsay heads up Saints Tourism & Leisure which specialises in the tourism and leisure industry from guest houses, to hotels to holiday parks. Lindsay is also a licenced Insolvency Practitioner assisting businesses and individuals who find themselves in financial difficulties, guiding many companies and individuals back to recovery.
Lindsay says: “One piece of advice I would give to anyone running a business is to focus on your strengths and don’t sell yourself short.”
Lindsay is married to Stuart Farrer (also a partner at Saint & Co) and has two children. They spend as much time as possible enjoying the outdoors together. Few of Lindsay’s colleagues know that her family nickname is ‘Pinsy’ which comes from the famous Searchers’ song ‘Needle and Pins’ – one of her father’s favourite songs.

William has been with the firm since 1999 and is based in the Cockermouth office. He grew up on his family’s hill farm and knows the farming and agricultural community extremely well.
He believes that a key part of his role is to encourage clients to take an interest in their overall financial position so they can ensure they’re on the right path to meet their business goals.
William says: “I enjoy working with ‘hands-on’ owner-managed businesses. I get to work with real people with real aspirations, and I love being a part of their achievements.”
Like many people who grew up on a farm, William has been driving vehicles of all shapes and sizes since he was 13 years old.

Helen joined the firm in 2010 is based in our Penrith and Wigton offices. She’s a ‘born and bred’ Cumbrian and is keen to see local businesses across the region flourish and grow.
Her work focuses on the needs of small businesses and the agricultural sector, helping business owners ensure their records are correct and that tax liabilities are minimised.
Helen says: “I really enjoy getting to know our clients and finding out about their businesses. Saint & Co is a very friendly firm and I like that we go out of our way to make our clients feel at ease and at home.”
Helen is known as being powerhouse of energy. Before starting her family, she was a whirlwind of bouldering, skiing, running and horse-riding. Her energy is now focused on taking care of her family and taking care of her clients.

Jennifer has been with Saint & Co since 2007. Based in the Dumfries and Annan offices she helps clients with all aspects of their business and personal tax affairs.
Working in the heart of a rural economy Jennifer spends her time supporting a variety of owner-managed and family run businesses across a wide range of industries, helping them maximise their efficiency and minimise their tax bills.
Jennifer says: “A quick phone call to us before making any big decisions could save business owners a lot of time and tax. We’re easy to talk to, and always have our client’s best interests at heart.”
Jennifer enjoys foreign travel and has a list of places she’s keen to visit.

Darren has been with Saint & Co since 2003. He is an audit manager who works with a wide range of clients, but has a significant amount of experience in working with Academies.
He guides and supports his clients through the audit process to make it as painless as possible. While Academies form a large part of his portfolio, he also has many clients in other sectors and relishes the diversity in size and variety of his client base.
Darren says: “Auditing can be a daunting process. We do our best to make it straightforward for our clients. People come to us because we’re friendly and easy to talk to. Remember, we maybe auditing your business, but we’re always on your side.”
Darren is a keen runner, who has recently ventured into triathlons. His favourite technology ‘toy’ is his Garmin Forerunner, which is essential to keep track of his sporting activities.
