The Prime Minister has announced that Statutory Sick Pay will be made available from day one when self-isolating, instead of day four. In order to receive statutory sick pay (SSP) people must be earning at least £118 a week.

Individuals not eligible to receive sick pay may be able to claim Universal Credit and/or contributory Employment and Support Allowance. Furthermore, employers have been given some discretion to accept different forms of evidence as proof of sickness, when people have been advised to self-isolate.
