Our team is certified to help thousands of self-employed businesspeople become Making Tax Digital compliant.

From April 2026, the government will start rolling out its Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self-Assessment (MTD for ITSA) initiative which will require sole traders and landlords to keep digital records and submit quarterly updates to HMRC using compatible software.

To make sure we can advise and assist customers to meet the new requirements, we have earned the Xero Making Tax Digital-ready badge.

To achieve this accreditation, team members needed to pass an online assessment which tested our knowledge of MTD for ITSA, confirming we have the expertise to help self-employed businesses and landlords comply with the regulations.

Michelle Ruddick, a senior manager at Saint & Co and Xero expert, said: “The MTD for ITSA regulations will become mandatory for thousands of self-employed businesspeople so it’s vital that they are aware of the changes to income tax reporting, and they are prepared as early as possible for the changes.

“This is why it’s so important that the team at Saint & Co are fully knowledgeable and aware of what is required, making sure that we can answer any queries on the topic and ensuring customers are meeting the new regulations.

“Achieving the MTD-ready badge proves that we know what the changes mean for businesspeople and how we can help them adapt their practices.”

MTD for ITSA will be rolled out in stages:

  • April 2026 – for all sole traders and landlords who earn over £50,000 per year;
  • April 2027 – for all sole traders and landlords who earn over £30,000 per year;
  • April 2028 – for all sole traders and landlords who earn over £20,000 per year.
