On 18th June the application for the Dairy Response Fund opened. The good news is that it is finally here with an eligibility checker. The bad news is that many producers adversely affected by the Pandemic are still excluded from claiming.

If you have seen a fall in milk price of more than 25% between February 2020 and April 2020, you could be eligible to claim. The milk price is the pence per litre, so a fall in milk sales due to a cut in production, would not necessarily mean you are eligible for the grant.

The scheme is for England only. If you have cross border land, as long as your holding is in England and the majority of your land is English they you may be eligible to claim.

So are you eligible to claim?

The application form and guidance on whether you are eligible to claim, including an eligibility checker can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/dairy-response-fund-2020.

We have checked the eligibility for some of our clients who supply Arla, First Milk, Meadow Foods and Yew Tree Dairies. Initial checks suggest businesses supplying these processors are unlikely to be eligible, although we would still recommend checking your own circumstances.
