We’re delighted to announce the promotion to partner of Sophie Graham and Alex Dent.

Sophie Graham FCA DChA joined Saint & Co in 2003. Starting as a Trainee Chartered Accountant, she’s now achieved partner in her 20th year. She brings a wealth of experience in audit, specialising in the charity sector, academies and clubs and has carried out client money audits for solicitors. Alongside this, she’s still involved in all areas of the business, including corporation tax and VAT. She has twice served as chairman of The Cumberland Society of Chartered Accountants, most recently 2020-2023, and mentors our junior audit members to guide them through training.

“Having trained and qualified with Saint & Co over 20 years ago, I was always proud of who I worked for. Now to be a partner and to be more involved is something I had always aspired for”. Sophie says she’s “looking forward to working with the other partners in building on the long-standing relationships with our clients, getting out there to meet local businesses and those in the third sector to provide the financial support and advice they need”.

Partner Stuart Farrer comments, “We are delighted to welcome Sophie to the partnership. She brings with her a large amount of audit and accountancy experience over a variety of business sectors. She will be an asset to the firm as we continue to grow”.

Alex Dent FCA CTA joined Saint & Co in 2015, shortly after qualifying. Coming from a general practice background, she completed her chartered tax qualification with us in 2019 and now has a varied role in tax. She provides specialist advice to clients on the structure of their business to ensure maximum tax efficiency, as well as dealing with the private client sector advising on tax planning, capital gains tax, trusts and inheritance tax.

“I am most looking forward to growing my role in the business, assisting individuals and businesses on all tax-related matters”. Alex is also looking forward to helping “local businesses with their growth strategies and ensuring that it meets their needs and expectations whilst remaining tax efficient”.

Partner Pauline Jackson comments, “Alex has a wealth of experience in corporate, personal and trust tax which she is able to pull together to give clients the relevant information to enable them to make informed decisions. She is caring, understanding and gets to know clients to ensure they are provided with the best possible service. She is most definitely an asset to the partnership”.

These new appointments now bring our total number of partners to 11, five of whom are women including Sophie and Alex. We wish them the best of luck in their new roles and look forward to watching them excel in the work they do with our clients and the local community.
