Four Month Extension to Job Retention Scheme Announced

Rishi Sunak has announced that the job retention scheme, often referred to as the furlough scheme, will be extended to the end of October. There will be no changes to the way the scheme operates until the end of July. However, for August, September and October there will be more flexibility to the scheme allowing for people to return to work part time. Employers will have to make a contribution to the scheme from the date of these changes, but the employee will continue to receive at least 80% of their wages.

We will update you further as more guidance is released on the future changes to the scheme.
